Have you ever asked yourself, “What’s it like being an international student?” Unless you’ve done it yourself, the question probably hasn’t crossed your mind.

Australia’s cash-strapped universities push hard to attract international students to their campuses, but does the experience really live up to the marketing?

For this story, I interviewed Dr Mehran Nejati, Senior Lecturer and MBA Director at Edith Cowan University; Ahmed Ademoglu, Curtin University International Students Committee President; and an anonymous international student who spoke of her experience of underpayment in the workplace.

This radio current affairs package was produced in my Radio News unit during my second year of university. The story was edited with Adobe Audition.

The story was selected to be published by the Western Independent.
